I will be posting a more detailed description of this guitar in the next few days ....
I have been working on an "African big 5" series of guitars.  The "rhino" was completed 2 months ago and now the leopard is nearing completion ....

At the opposite end of the spectrum, my  "La Salon" acoustic with "girl in the window" inlay.

My "phantom" model is partly chambered and made with quality wood and parts.  Sounds awesome.

My first electric guitar from a few years ago.  I chose to go "headless" due to ergonomic and aesthetic considerations.

While building the "rhino", I have also been working on a modern electric bass design.  Again, based on modern "African" elements

Big 5 guitars

I'm a South African based luthier, I started building violins in the 90's and then later switched to hand-making guitars. So far, all the guitars I have designed and built have all been one-offs and are not copies of anything that has gone before.  I have made both acoustic and electric models which can be seen at www.murraykuun.com

I am currently designing and building the so-called "African Big 5".  I have completed the "rhino" acoustic (pic below) which is built from all-African woods (sapele and imbuia).  It is a mid-sized steel string flat top and designed to have a warm, but pure, sonic balance.  All the pro-players that have tried it so far agree that this has been achieved.

Our rhino's are in great danger of becoming extinct due the the horrific poaching which is happening right now. Over 400 were butchered in 2011.

The general idea of this particular guitar is to, through "music", raise awareness and funds for "save-the-rhino" organizations.  If and when this guitar is sold, all the proceeds will be donated to these organizations.
